Best advice I could give anyone starting out is 'be honest'! Don't pretend to be something you are not :)

I am guessing that you can have straight lead ins to an image and also have curved lead ins as in the 'shell' scenario - both can be used to manipulate the viewers eye.

Don't forget the noise filter if you don't want it to look too glossy and 'photoshoped' ;)

I like the concept of this latest logo but feel the type is still a bit weak - needs beefing up. Try to find a font that will be unique, whether you tweak one you like or get searching for something used a little less widely. There are so many to choose from :)

I liked your third logo with the stars - as long as the stars suit your character then I would keep them. I worry that the typography is a little too similar to countless other small design studios - I have designed a few logos very similar to yours over the years. You should ask yourself...

Don't do it! Page turners are only for marketing fools who think it 'looks cool' but serves no purpose - you want to see a page turn - buy a book!!! Just had this whole conversation with some Vodafone marketing bods - they wanted it in a 2 page newsletter - lol

Well done - I really like it :) I wondered if you could have used some straight lines to help define/tie in the right hand text with your more illustrative text on the left? May have helped to draw the eye and aid the viewer by giving them some subtle guides to follow.

Erm... I like the logo :) I would do a bit more research and find a site that you like, look at the spacing and typography and learn from it. Decide on an effective palette - there are plenty of sites to help you out. As is previously stated - you want to showcase your skills as a designer...
