Hi, sorry only just seen this. So what is this? Tutorials that you can practice on their site? (it would probably help if i wasn't looking at it on my phone!)

New to web design. Where to start?!

Thanks. What is CMS and SCC? Totally new to web design and don't know the terminology! Not sure I would want to offer web design as a freelancer as I would have no one next to me to turn to when I got into difficulty. Was thinking more to have some skills to help me get into an in-house job...

    stroke issue in Indesign

Progress! Under "Transform" I had to "Redefine Scaling as 100%" and then reset the stroke and that seems to have solved it. No idea how I did it in the first place so if anyone else does that would be handy to know. Phew.

    stroke issue in Indesign

Anyone? I've noticed a difference between the boxes with thicker/thinner stroke . . . All boxes have a stroke of 3. Yet when highlighting the boxes with the thinner stroke (so highlighted blue) it says that the boxes are 60%. How can a box be 60%?! 60% of what?! The ones with the...

Thanks. Ok will have to look that up. Perhaps I should do a course? Or is a course not necessary for Wordpress?

Portfolio in face to face meetings.

So you don't feel that it is unusual to not have a paper portfolio? Although as I said I do have a lot of paper items to show. (It's whole books) I was thinking of doing an online portfolio at some point but don't know where/how.

Portfolio in face to face meetings.

Thanks for your reply. Because of the area I work in I have to take hard copies as well which are very heavy. The combination of the two is just too heavy for me and I'm going to seriously hurt myself one of these days! It's hard to say how many projects as such because a lot of them are small...

New to web design. Where to start?!

Hello, I've specialised in an area for many years which has never required any web knowledge or experience. I'm thinking of expanding to make me more employable and so web design is probably the sensible way to go. I'm not sure where to start though. I'm not massively technical and that's...

    stroke issue in Indesign

I'm working on a long Indesign document which is full of boxes filled with images. All the boxes have stroke of 3pt. I've noticed that despite all the box strokes being 3pt, and all set to centre of frame some appear much thicker than others. I can't see what's going wrong (it's probably...

    Odesk? Anyone used it?

Yeah it does get much more complicated (doesn't help the guilt that my children have practically begged me not to go back to work as they love having me at home) :icon_frown:

    Odesk? Anyone used it?

The problem I find with freelancing/temp in-house work is that I need to arrange childcare, which isn't possible for me. I don't have, unlike some friends and other people I know, any relatives to help out as and when. Regular childcare would need to be set up for set days so if I weren't then...

    Odesk? Anyone used it?

True! Some of the budgets that I saw on PeoplePerHour were hardly worth the time it took to read the description!

    Odesk? Anyone used it?

Thanks for your reply. Yeah that's what I thought as well, that the budgets are ridiculous! Am just getting started after a break though and am not exactly swamped with work right now! I thought it might bring in a little bit extra while I'm getting things going. Wasn't sure if it would be more...

Portfolio in face to face meetings.

Hi, I'm just coming back to design after a break of a few years and a lot has changed! Luckily my specialism isn't the most technologically advanced area! I've been asking around and it would seem that a lot of people in the industry still show paper portfolios, but mine is just way to heavy...
