why not just go to illustrator and create text as outlines (or create text in photoshop) and place the text as images instead. This way, if someone doesn't have your font when browsing, they will still see the look you wanted?
Hi There: I've owned two successful graphic design shops over the past 28 years and when it came time to hire someone I found the education and experience helped get the foot in the door, however... I made my decisions based on their portfolio as well as their personality. I don't care how good...
The only thing that throws me off a bit are the windows... they appear to have the same cloud formations as the background. They should really reflect what's in front of them, or show darkness from within the house. Other than that, it looks great.
it's a nice site, fresh and clean. i agree with ontaris about the font size... lots of older eyes out there.
other than that, nice start and you can improve as you go and grow.

i agree with most of the posts... definitely with the kerning.
also i think the leaves need some work... maybe a better colour difference between the 3 greens. and a little better shape. also bring the top pair of leaves down a bit as i see the black peeking through.
hope this helps
i agree... it seems to be a bit dark. i think liven it up a bit. comments on layout can go on forever as it's so opinionated, but coming up with a better colour scheme should be a good start...

how about getting rid of the yellow circle and make the go caps or bold/different colour... maybe the strong yellow. keep it simple and the strength will come out. the big yellow dot doesn't do it for me... take it away and work with what you have there and i think it will come into shape.
whatever you do... create it in illustrator or indesign and have a vector image to work from. you can import into photoshop anytime you want and edit there. avoid creating in photoshop as you will run into limitations if your resolution is too low.

yeah... what you can do is send your pages as single page pdf's (with bleeds, etc) and bring them into a new document set to your pagination. it just makes it a bit easier. this pagination for print is something that adobe has still ignored... perhaps contact them/tutorial.

Too many times have I heard... 'do this for cheap and I'll give you my on-going business'. As soon as I hear this, I back away. It's a shame things didn't work out with the dude that put the work into it, but lesson learned. Never be too eager to jump on a project... especially one that doesn't...
Watch out my friend... this sounds a lot like a bait and hook scheme. They may have the best intentions, but have them back it up with cold hard cash. Don't do anything for free... unless you really want to. Magazines can eat up a lot of time in creating as well as seeing it through to the final...
Hey There... looks nice but my issue right away was with the 'o'. Just not getting the point across quick enough. I think you need to round it out more at the bottom to make it appear more O-like.
Also, how will this look in black and white? I find creating in black and white with shades of grey...
