You don't need the shadows that are going on. Take it right back to basics, use a more 'solid font' better kerning, watch the leading and use a font with a shorter X height. These examples are just thrown together and aren't fit for submission at any means but just an example of how other...

The bottom is the best of the bunch but Id change it up completely. if thats taken to 1/4 of the size its not legible. There are a lot of ways you could make that into a more 'solid', legible logo. Id start by lessening the kerning of Redwood. x

I agree with the V/U going to try and work with that in illustrator some how. Yes, its B's but the over all shape is supposed to resemble a 'V'. Trying to represent shape and structure but the client doesnt want anything 'sharp'

Id use a more solid square typeface. I don't like the way helvetica sits within the spaces. 100% id try a different type choice and go from there. Id also just make the type black and create the cube from the type & ditch the solid cube.

Nice idea but at a scale any size smaller than the current image.. it wouldn't be evident what it actually is. Its not 100% at the current size but the concept is nice. Id keep messing around with it, maybe make a vector logo but keeping the same concept.
