    Responsive design

Not necessarily, think about snapping the window to the edge of the screen on Windows or lining up two sites on the same screen. Rather than having to scroll across instead the site has adapted its design to the constraints of the viewport - how this is bad is beyond me.

are the W3 schools exams worth it?

NO! Please don't do it, they have nothing to do with the W3C and everything on their site is a load of bollocks. Check out W3Fools

    Responsive design

I'm not sure if we're on the same page here, with responsive design you're not creating a sole mobile site, you're compromising the desktop experience, far from it, all your doing is adding to the mobile experience. Take my site as an example, it's primary purpose is desktop, but, if you visit...

    Responsive design

Been doing it for a while now on client sites and personal stuff. You're right it's the way forward, and definitely with don't target specific devices, although it's quite easy to do as everyone just thinks a tablet is an iPad. Images are a problem atm, there's been a lot of discussion...

    Web safe fonts

Not sure about that, I know that when declaring Helvetica in your CSS it's probably a good idea to use the sans-serif declaration so then Helvetica gets served to Macs and Arial to PC because Helvetica looks pretty poor on PC. So just declare something like this: html { font-family...

Ok plz rate my web designs..

We've been through this once before and the thread got closed, why should people give you feedback when you're a dick about it. As for a critique and some help for you...the designs are awful, they don't make any sense, the layout is bizarre, your type is poor, the random circles are just...

Please help me with website flop....

There's more to a website than graphics, just as there's more to a piece of music than sounds

Please help me with website flop....

I think anyone reading this would run a mile if you approached them about design, you have no respect for what they do

Please help me with website flop....

It's an interesting question, at Uni for my dissertation I did that exact thing test whether a Facebook app is better than a 'normal website', the short answer was yes. I tested on about 50 people in four different conditions using a combination of Facebook and gaming elements (leaderboards...

    Next steps...

Can't add more to what Corrosive's already said other than read about responsive design and mobile design in general. I harp on about Treehouse quite a lot but I think it's the best resource out there at the minute and you'd learn a hell of a lot more on there than any evening school. Also...

New iMac 27" - which one to go for?

I believe Apple are updating their iMac and Macbook Pro lines very soon, this month probably so I'd wait. Not sure if the 3.1ghz would make any noticeable difference though, you'd probably notice more performance getting an SSD or at least that's what a few people have told me.

Pricing Help for freelance website design...

I might be going against the grain here but for a 25 page website that doesn't sound like a lot to me... you need an hourly rate then calculate from that. Obviously if every page is more or less the same then it won't take too long. Projects usually take longer than you first think, so bear...
