    Photoshop logo to vector

    Hi folks,

New to the forums seems a great place.
I knocked up a logo just as an example for some one in photoshop.
Turns out they really like the design but I need to convert it to a vector image.
Have tried some of the tools such as vectormagic but im losing a lot of detail.
Any advice on how I can do this would be greatfully lapped up.

Depending on the detail in the logo you will probably not get a good result with any of the vector conversion software online, even the one included with Illustrator.

My advice would be to draw it from scratch in Illustrator...or get somebody who specialises in this to do it for you, usually costs £50-£100 depending on the logo.

No easy fix unfortunately, hence Photoshop is not ideal for logos.

    Hope that helps.

    It seems that way.
All avenues of conversion I try are very loose, low detail.
Guess its back to the drawing board and the best thing will be to just replicate the design.
Many thanks for your reply boss man.

What he said. Redraw it in Illustrator. I know this isn't any help now, but it's really not good practice to design logos in Photoshop. And now you know why.

I know you said you want to convert to vector. But which tool did you use to draw it in photoshop? if you used the pen tool, then you should have the shape layers still in tact , in which case you can still move it to illustrator in vector format.

The moral of this story - don't 'knock up' logos in Photoshop. Use Illustrator.

Yeah i learned that lesson the hard way too, luckily for me for the first, and only time since, the live trace function in Illustrator worked and i was pulled outta the mud! Phew!
