New to forum

Hi, my name is Ashley and I am new to the forums here. I am looking to get a job in web design, but feel I can't until I gain more experience with Flash and Dreamweaver. I went to a 2 year design college in the States, where I had a class on web site design. Because of my instructor never being in the room to ask questions, I never picked the programs up as well as I would have liked. So I feel I should take some courses and become certified before I look into web design. My question is this, is it better to go to a University and take classes, or is an online course where I am certified by Adobe just as acceptable to perspective clients? I know which one I'd rather do, but I think it would be best to go for what gets me a job in the end!
