Questions to ask a client

Hey I'm putting together a questionnaire to ask potential clients in the form of email and telephone and would like to know some important questions to ask clients.

Here are some I already have compiled



What do you look for in a young designer?
What will I be doing at your company?
What are the long-term goals of your company?
Who are your main competitors?
How are you different from your competitors?
What is the size of your company?
What is the best way to contact you?
Who is your Target audience?
What image do you want to portray? (Professional/Casual/cutting edge etc)

on your last question I would ask the potential client to expand on their answer t. Their definition of professional/casual may be completely different then yours.

Also make a subset of questions geared towards different services. Logo questions, brochure questions etc

I'd have thought the way to approach this would be to ask yourself what information will enable you to do your job and start from there/leave it at that. As I've said previously, I'm wary of this kind of exercise when it's set up as paperwork but I think the very least you should do is limit the questions to things that are particularly pertinent to the job you're pitching for and avoid asking any questions you could answer yourself with a bit of research/initiative.
