Converting fonts to outlines

I am trying to drag points on a font that I converted to an Outline so that I can alter the shape of the font, however after the conversion, when I click and drag a point in the Outline, the whole font moves and no alteration occurs!!

Can anyone advise me of what I am doing wrong in the process?

If you're using Illustrator to edit the font shape, then you need to do the following:

1. Select the font using the Selection Tool (black arrow)
2. With the font selected, switch to the Direct Selection Tool (white arrow)
3. Select the individual points of the shape and drag the points
