Default Logo Help Please

Hi,

I am trying to design a logo for my online business, I sell things on eBay for other people. I want to go with a simple design.

I am using Photoshop (I am a complete amateur). Would I use the brushes function to make icons that would go next to the text in the logo?

I have designed a few concept logos below, please check them out. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to go for simple, modern elegance...haha. Thank you very much.

Hi,

I'd say the right hand logo of the three thumbnails.
I'd have 'edgeview' all in lowercase and just have 'edge' in say Roman and 'view' in Medium or Bold or combinations of light and heavy-er.
I'd then scale the text underneath to the width of 'edgeview'.

Hi there, just a surguestion but as the company is called "EDGE VIEW" why not have the word "EDGE" rotated 90degrees counter clockwise and scale it down and place it on the "edge" of the word "VIEW".

Not very original I know, but it's a play on the words and that kind of thing gets respect in the design world. (I think :P)

Thank you all for all the feedback,
Steven I really like that idea, I am going to step away from the tools and really hit the sketch pad hard to iron out some ideas. I really like that one, I appreciate it.

Thank you all for the helpful feedback. I am very new to graphic design but I am very intrigued by it. I have a passion for art, I sketch characters whenever I can but translating this to the computer has been an exploration.

I stepped away from the computer and went to the sketch pad. I came up with the attached logo. This is by no means my final draft and I am continuing to brainstorm. I wanted my logo to reflect that I am in the sales business and that I am trustworthy. I appreciate any and all feedback thank you very much!

Hi,

It's too quirky and playful - quite childlike and I don't think this reflects the trustability etc. that you want to reflect. Sometimes logos don't need to be 'clever' - just some simple elegant type often is enough.

I appreciate the feedback and I really enjoyed your website. You have some beautiful designs. That is the type of elegance I am aiming for.

I am really struggling to find the right type of imagery to show "online consignment sales." I was thinking the sales tag would best represent the online consignment sales. Maybe a storefront icon on the left of the logo?

I almost want to ditch the whole "attempt to be clever" concept with the sales tag in the logo and just go to a simple elegant text which was what my original drafts tried to convey. Please let me know where I can improve.

I greatly appreciate the feedback thank you!

Paul is quite correct when he says you can be too clever. A logo doesn't have to visually represent the service they are offering.

Find some fonts that you like the look of and try combining them as you had started to in your first few visuals.
