Please help - I need advice on what printer to buy

I run a small home business doing kids party invites that I have designed on photoshop and I have tried quite a few printers so far. HP, Epson, Brother ink jets. Quality has been good enough but I have had problem after problem and had to return them. Mainly due to the product failing after a short time. I was then advised to buy a good colour laser printer and was recommended by an online print shop that the Kyocera Ecosys P6021cdn would be perfect for me. I was told the print quality wouldn't be that far of a 4 colour ink jet. I received that printer today and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The print quality is extremely poor. Colours are very washed out and black text as a slight blur and shadowing to it. I think I may have been advised very poorly on this.

I am now at a point where I don't know what to do. I need a good quality printer that will cope with heavy use (approx 150-200 prints per day on 10x15cm photo paper). I definitely think ink jet is the way forward as laser does not give a glossy finish. I also need to keep my print costs down as well.

Quality of print does not need to be photo quality. These are only kids invites and 4 colour printers have been fine so far, they just don't seem to be up to the job of handling the amount of prints I need to do.

I don't really trust any shops or manufacturers for advise as I been advised poorly a few times now, I think just to get a sale out of me. I don't mind paying for an expensive printer if it is going to do the job and going to last more than just a couple of weeks.

The other problem I have encountered a lot with ink jets is paper feeding. I am using 10x15cm photo paper with a glossy finish. I cannot afford to use epson or hp photo paper as it is not cost effective for my business. I use a decent glossy 230gsm paper etikken world I think the name is. It fed fine in the epson, but that printer kept going faulty and wouldn't recognise its own cartridges (after swapping it 6 times for exactly the same fault I gave up).

At the end of the day my business relies on a printer, without one I do not have a business. I just want the right tool for the job and I don't mind paying for it. If anyone can help me with some advise on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Never heard of Kyocera - so that's a bad sign right there.

Unless you pay a premium for a high quality printer - what you'll get at a low price is office printers, not suitable for mass production.

I'd recommend an OKI - look them up. They are brilliant.

Your problem is trying to print on photo paper with a laser.

Glossy photo paper is for photos, not for invites. If you want to print photos, buy a dye-sub printer. If you want invites, buy a different card stock.
