Feedback on my logo

Hi all,

I've been working on a redesign of a bike shop logo for fun and practise :icon_eek:

Any feedback and advice would be greatly received.

Hello,

Kerning aside, the only real problem is the small detailed indentations around the outside of the tires will not be visible at small sizes. Nice conceptual thinking.

I'm not sure on the shape of the "R" it does look like a question mark at a slant. I had to second glance it. But then again, I haven't had my coffee this morning.

Why is the front tyre not complete?

I like the concept but I'm not keen on the typography/font, I think it's a weak point of the identity.

I think it's a little too contrived and too much going on. You have become fixed on getting the handlebars to make an R to the detriment of the rest of the logo.
I don't like it being a different angle to the other text and not keen on three different text sizes.

Keep it simple. I presume the first tyre is a C? Could this continue and form a lower case 'r'?

If you stripped out the text from inside the mark and did something like this instead (keeping the R device for the handlebars), I think you'd have a stronger logo. Plus the infinity symbol looks a little like the profile of a link from a bike chain.

Could the R not even make the rider hunched over the handle bars, head down, standing on the pedals - as if powering up hill??

No they don't :s how do I delete the image or thread. I don't to get into trouble. It was only a logo I decided to practise with. Help :icon_blushing:

It could look like a company is re-branding when they actually aren't. This could effect share prices, industry rumors of takeovers. How would you not know this if you're indeed a professional designer?

Because he clearly stated at the start it was for fun and practice? Maybe read the original post before you start questioning other designers knowledge.

Doesn't work like that mate, I currently work for one of CRC's biggest competitors and somebody posted the image to this post

It has done the rounds of 3 bike companies wondering what they are planning until I saw it here and asked if he'd got CRC's permission to use their name. I am questioning his knowledge because this could have been hot news on many bike websites and may even found it's way into the press and magazines had it not been associated with the text, I obviously did read the post but it wasn't doing the rounds with the image. Again I repeat, designers have to be very careful what they doing with other peoples brands without permission.

This is a lesson learned not an argument, the MD of CRC would be very interested in this post if he thought it was causing his business any harm.
