Which? Report. Adobe charges Europe more than the US

I've been saying it for years. Adobe charges Europe more than the US - and they should explain why!

Please reshare this to any and all your social links - and to Adobe on FB and Twitter!

Let's put an end to this

We pay more for clothes, fuel, cars, food, houses, computers and pretty much everything else really. I think to single Adobe out as the bad guy in all of this is missing the bigger picture.

Oh absolutely - from everything to Macs, Windows, xBox, Playstation, software in general.

But I think as graphic designers we could lobby together and the more people who shout the louder the voice.

I'd be all on for a cheaper Creative Cloud, at least somewhere on par with what US users pay.

Totally, I'd sign up in an instant with the price difference. I also agree that there may be additional shipping/tax costs associated with British sold goods but an online service such as CC should definitely be on a par no matter where you are. Kind of makes a mockery of the web being 'the great leveller'. But I also think that Adobe makes money where it can, is answerable to shareholders and so will 'go with the flow' when it comes to price differentials between EU and the USA.

Well I know in Ireland that Adobe had a printers for their boxed material, so printing and packaging was done in Ireland, which would have been more costly - so for boxed products it made sense.

But now it's a Creative "Cloud" it's all downloadable - and I don't their servers are in the United States, or Europe - probably in China or India - but who's to know.

I've always been disgusted with the price difference, there is no shipping charge, there's no real difference.

Even when Which? removed the tax from the products, it was still a lot more expensive.

I think global commerce is probably complex enough to allow manufacturers to offer justification for regional price variations: some of the reasoning may be spurious but, while they're satisfied with the level of trade they're doing at current prices and the authorities (who place themselves at the service of the economy for the most part) don't advance and enforce a regulatory case, those of us who depend on these products - products that are so tightly and vigorously protected - basically have to suck it up. Export costs or the costs/associated risks of local production and support (probably the key factor when it comes to anything cloud-based) in various jurisdictions will be the bigger part of the argument and it's a tough one to counter.

I don't know - it all sounds like it could be done a lot better and make a more even price across continents.

Of course we have to "suck it up" that's what sucks about it.

Guess I'm just sick of being taken advantage of based solely on my geographical location - first world problems huh!

Nicely put - I'm going to be on the look out for an opportunity to use that one!

There's a price to be paid for the free market - and woe betide those elements of it that are essentially captive.
