Gaaaa! Please help!!!!

I am having kittens here!

I have my own little graphics business that I am trying to build up. I have started selling certain designs, and the design in question is for a wedding invitation. The client wants 50. The size of the invitation is 130x130mm.

I am printing on silk card which is always fine and I get really good results, but this time the client wants a double sided print.

I am using a Canon pixma mg5550. I have worked out that I can get two invitations per a4 sheet. So after printing two of the invitations on a sheet, I am feeding it back through the printed to print the back of them. I am using crop marks to cut them down to size. Sadly, when printing the back of the invitations on the same sheets, they are not lining up and I have been here for hours messing with it.

I have made sure that the invitations in Illustrator are dead centre in the middle of the A4 page but it still isn't working.

Can anyone help please???????

Probably because of printer margins or an offset on the printing edge down to the printer itself.

All you need to do is measure how far off the crop mark is - then shift it in that direction in the artwork itself that amount.

Don't waste your good paper, try it on normal paper stock til you get it right.

Thanks Hank :) I thought there would b a more technical way of making sure it printed right these days with all this modern technology lol.

Would a full bleed printer help with this kind of thing?

It might help it's hard to know.

If you can justify the cost of a full bleed printer that can duplex, then go for it.

Take the headache out of it for you.

I have a Colorqube and when it prints both sides they don't match up - I've had a dozen techs look at it, in the end I just offset the design on one side ... much easier!
