In need of a logo.

Hi

I'm starting up a website and am after a logo. The website is quite basic and is a music news and reviews website. I'm wondering realistically how much is this going to cost me? Anyone got any offers etc? Thanks.

Do you want quotes for both logo and website? If so, you'll need to provide a little more information.

Sorry i should have been clearer. I am doing the website myself but am after a Logo for the site. I'm not after anything extremely complex rather something that just looks original .

I can not give you a fixed price. No one really should be able to. Chances are if you do get a fixed price for your logo the design will not be original nor will it be any good. I have great rates and can produce a quality of work that I am sure you would like.

Have a look at my blog post where I describe the process I go through to design a logo: Logo Design Balance | qiyamahmedia.com | Graphic & Multi Media Design

Your logo is your public face and potentially will be used for years to come. You need to consider the research that goes into creating a unique design, thats assuming you don't want anything generic. But to give you a rough idea, a freelancer such as myself may charge a few hundred to a few thousand pounds depending on the requirements.

Really? What if I just decide to round my prices up or down?

What you just said doesn't make sense. If you round your price up or down for work that you have done then great, that still doesn't mean you are providing a fixed price. Crack on and doll out fixed price work if you like.

someone asks for a logo design and want it for £100, so your just going to work up to the respective time and then stop?

You quite ridiculously said that nobody should be able to offer a fixed price, and that if anyone did, chances are the design will not be original nor will it be any good. To clarify, I didn't mean round up/down every single quote. That wouldn't be fixed price work, as you said. The point I was making was that I may have worked on enough logo related projects in the past, that I can look at how much I earned for each and work out a fixed price to charge now.

I'm positive that anyone who does offer a fixed price, has spent enough years in the industry that they know exactly how to extract the vital information from a client to begin with, know exactly how long it will take them to do their own research, know exactly how long it'd take them to produce the design, and are confident the client will like it without the need to change or amend it.

If I quote a fixed price, it's because I know the things above and that the time won't go up. If it takes me less time, great, I've made extra money.

All the original poster wanted to know was how much he'd be looking at for a logo. Giving him the opinion that all fixed price fee's will result in unoriginal and crap work is just stupid.

I will.

No. I'd be able to tell them how long it'll take and give them a price accordingly.

This alone states that your work is not the kind of ''get a logo for £99 stuff'' thats what I was getting at. You have in fact reenforced my point by your above statement, you will price the work accordingly.

I think I may have given off the wrong impression, what I was really trying to put across was that using a logo seller that does all for £99 is probably going to end up with a resulting logo that is not original or in fact memorable.

I do agree that after discussing requirements and figuring out what is needed a fixed price could be given, In that sense I apologise as I must have put my point across incorrectly.

Also I have a great deal of respect for some of your work Arrivals so please do not think this is me thinking 'I know better'

In that sense, I totally agree. Those cheaper places that do knock stuff out for ridiculous prices do tend to come up with some absolute tosh . Fortunately, there arn't any (that I've seen) of those types on this forum!

From the way you wrote it, it looked as if you thought every designer that worked to fix prices would produce amateurish stuff.

Hey ho! :icon_cheers:

And although it came out like that is was the furthest thing from what i meant. In actual fact, I'm handing an invoice over now to a guy that was done on fixed price. Sorry for the confusion.
