Got this email earlier and thought I'd share

After hearing so many stories from freelancers about commissions being cancelled and the uncertainty surrounding future work due to current events, we wanted to do something to help out in these unpredictable times.

So in addition to our new 90-day free trials and 50% discounts on Affinity apps, and as part of our pledge to spend our whole 2020 creative commissioning budget in the next three months, we’re launching a new initiative: 100 Days. 100 Commissions.

From today, you can submit your work to us for consideration. It can be a project you’ve already completed, were halfway through, or even a proposal for something new — it’s up to you.

You can read all about the initiative on our website and learn more about what we’re looking for, what you’ll get out of it and how to submit.

Clever marketing.
Yeah, I already knew of it but when you think about it, they could literally pick the cheapest ones, say people from our favourite crowdsourcing sites who just happened to send some in as well and it would cost them next to nothing to pay for while from a marketing stand point they're supporting everyone etc. The thing is they've actually stated they're going to pay $1500 US (which is comical as Serif is a UK company, the least they could do is £'s...) so they're putting $150,000 up (likely tax deductible, under marketing, but still)

The same could be said of their reduced prices, while it's great if you were on the fence about buying them (like me), there is a very business orientated aspect to lower prices in that they get more users (many of which will likely go back to adobe) and still actually sell product when people don't have as much money etc... Serif in the past were known for literally giving their previous generation software away on magazine covers to gain marketshare etc.... yes I have no idea how they made money either.

Hopefully this 'generosity' from them will help loosen Adobe's grip a little but I doubt it....

Got this email today

These past few months have been different, to say the least, and we’ve been trying our best to support the creative community in whatever way we can. Throughout this time, we’ve launched a few initiatives and offers, which we wanted to give you a quick update on.
100 Days. 100 Commissions.
Thanks so much to everyone who submitted their work to us — we’ve been flooded with amazing artwork for this initiative and have made our final selections.
We’ll be using the artwork in future marketing campaigns, but we’ve already posted a few pieces to our Instagram if you would like to take a look.
Lockdown 2020: Affinity Creative Sessions
Our new YouTube series is currently in full swing and we’ll continue to premiere a new creative session every day at 4pm BST until 31 May.
We have a killer line-up set for the rest of the month, so make sure you’re subscribed to our YouTube channel or following us on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, as that’s where we’ll be announcing each session’s details.
90-day free trial and 50% discount offer extended
And finally, we’re still getting a lot of feedback from our community about how much the 90-day free trial and 50% discount on the apps has helped. Many businesses, schools and colleges are still closed, and we’re still seeing a large number of people taking up the trial to get free access to the tools they need. For that reason, we’ve decided to extend the availability of both the trial and discount for another month, until 20 June.
We’ll have to revert back to our normal pricing after this extension, but we wanted to stretch it out as long as we could. So, if you haven’t signed up for your 90-day free trial or purchased the apps for half price yet, make sure you do so before time runs out.
