Wanting to buy an A4 Inkjet All in One Printer, any guidance on whats the best for reasonable price?

Hey

I'm wondering does anyone have any guidance or advice on inkjet printers? I recently bough a Canon Pixma MG5750 and lets just say it lasted 4 months. So I want to get a better one. My purpose for it is for general use but also so I can print some photos or prints. I cautious of the price of inks too so I'm trying to see what the best solution would be. I've always been a fan of Canon and Epson. I'm not going to be running a print factory so its not something big I need, just something better than what I had. Price range about £150

Any advice would be great, im searching online for ages and its so hard to know which to choose. I would prefer it wireless too.

When I was at uni, we had a fantastic Canon printer. Can't remember the model but it was just a little desktop printer, but the quality was amazing. I looked it up and it was about £300, so never got one myself. Wish I could remember which it was, it was brilliant.

Honestly though, I've personally given up with an inkjet for printing in my office. I have a Canon Pixma ip-something, and whilst the quality is really good, the ink is just way too expensive for the amount of prints you get. I was finding myself replacing a full set of cartridges at £90 a pop every couple of months. And I hardly ever printed anything. I tried getting the ink refilled but even that wasn't cheap, and I found the colours to be a little off.

Now, if I need something printing like photos I'll use a kiosk in Boots or my local printer and just pay the 40p per picture of whatever. I'm actually looking into a cheap, secondhand laserjet for my office. The toner can be expensive, but should last considerably longer. Someone else might be able to offer some advice, but personally I don't find the convenience of being able to print at home worth the cost.
 
I swear by Canon printers (and scanners actually), had them for years and never had one fail in 4 months.... I had an ip5000 last me for 8 years and only reason it actually died on me was because I was stupid enough to try non canon ink which ended up clogging the head and no matter what I tried it just wouldn't clean. Always found epson too saturated and HP always seemed worse value, although they do seem to have some relatively cheap prices at the moment.

Currently got an ix4000 (a3) and mx925 all in one (not that I actually use my printers much these days), the later being the suggestion I was going to give except that it's now seems to be over £300... I know I didn't pay that much for it...

All I can suggest is a canon or hp with separate cartridges for each colour, seeing as the one I have experience with is out of your price range.

EDIT: seems that Argos are doing the mx925 for £120 so that's my suggestion

Just beware cartridge costs and which ones you pick you can get XL versions which have more ink in them for very little extra cost. You also need to use Canon paper to get the best results when doing photo's., it really does make a difference imo.

Hey, yeh I totally agree, I had the Canon Pixma for a few months and the cartridges are stupid prices. I ended up getting an Epson ET-2650 Which is the Eco Tank so it isnt cartridge but you just pour the ink into it, last a hell of a lot longer apparently. So Im giving it a go, its really good so far!
