Hi, I'm seeking for advice regarding my new logo. It is meant to represent health and organic products. Coffee, Tea, Juices, hipster stuff, etc.

So here is the idea, it is suppose to spell Jugooso. Jugoso means juicy in spanish, Jugo means juice and Oso means bear. Therefore the play on words and the image of the bear.

I'm considering adding a colorful background like pastel fruity mix colors (bunch of blobs)that are inside the margin of the text so that the text will be bigger than the background. Or just plain green. I'm considering whether I want the text inside a blob or over-riding it.

In the images uploaded here are the initial idea, the one which I've parted from in this last creative brainstorming is titled "logo bandera" and the inspiration on which the bear is based on is on "Logo OSO".

I have done a more cartoonish bear using the O's for eyes and the S for a nose looking straight or right. It is cute but I don't feel it gives the right message of nature, deliciousness & health. Don't think I want a cartoonish bear in my bottled drinks, and whatever product I might want to develop in the future (shirts, notebooks, etc)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I already have a designer (albeit industrial designer) in mind for help creating it. She would be charging me about $50-55usd. Don't know if its worthwhile looking elsewhere in this or similar communities.

This is what I see on each of the images
Tugo,
Tugo,
Lugo,
no idea what relevance the bears have, also looks like it's wearing a bikini bottom in the first one
Lugo OSO,
pictures of bears
bear with an S...

Honestly those sketches don't say organic food or anything to me.... at best the bear is saying cold/frozen products

Look at any of your ideas when the image is 40px high. None of tem work. Now make it 28px high (for a favicon) and it's even worse.

Unless you had told me it was Jugooso I'd never have guessed that. At best I'd say it was Lugo OSO

You need to get away from the idea that every logo is going to end up in a favicon - you can simplify logos that will appear this small anyway.

Please focus on critiquing the design etc. - application is important - but they are looking for feedback and help to make the design better.

They are only in sketch stage - we have no idea how it will pan out.

I think you're trying too hard to create something that's not going to work. Remember, K.I.S.S.!
If you're not a designer, you should leave all the sketching to your designer.

I agree. But it's not easy to see how a logo like that would work in the header of a phone. The majority of people use tablets or phone to browse so a logo has to work on much smaller sizes than have been traditional. So maybe it's a better idea to begin with a small logo and then add features as the size increase.

Please critique the logo and the idea - that is what the OP wants feedback on.

Every post about a logo you mention the favicon... it is important - but it's not what the OP is trying to figure out.

The favicon can be anything - it could be just the bear. It could be a "bee" or a "paw" ... there's many ways to incorporate it.

The OP wants direction on their idea and their logo.

Is that per hour? If it's just $50 for all the work I'd be sceptical of the time put into it and the quality of the final outcome based solely on that (very) low price.

Is this for a real product line? I think the cartoony bear is a bit childish, and I probably wouldn't try to incorporate the bear into the logo myself. I'd be worried about backing yourself into a corner with what you can and cannot do with the brand. Instead I'd be looking to develop a clean, visual style/language you can carry across your products so consumers know that is your product. Maybe use the bear as a motif on labels or packaging rather than as an actual logo.

If you're going after a 'hipster' market, look at other popular hipster brands or products. They're often clean and trendy with a sense of vintage and luxury about them. Your packaging has to appeal to them but also has to stand out against other organic tea, coffee and juices who may be using similar, trendy styles.

Thanks for the constructive and non constructive criticism.

Here is a bit of a last ditch effort before I go see what the person I'm hiring suggests I do.

Should i keep the bear?, should i put it behind, above or under? keeping the text, cursive or not? changing the bear to something more like Paul Murray suggested or just the silhouette of a bear with the text inside.

I'll let the person I'm working with be as creative as she wants with the bear. Maybe she can come up with something more interesting.

I like Cursive but i guess if the point is keeping it stupid simple I could go for Print. The header on a phone would be just the text while the banner would include the bear.

Ideally the bear would be the motif and logo/favicon of the business and the wording would be part of the banner.

Once business starts going well and i can hire an actual designer I will look into it again. But for now any suggestions of what it should/could be so I can start with are appreciated.

I like #5 for it feels like I've minimized the bear's footprint. I could just keep the word Jugo and the bear as a backdrop. and only use the full word when doing phone banner or similar things.

P.S. I now realize I got cursive "J" wrong. Hope people's inability to see past that mistake and build upon it is addressed in these last tries.

Honestly, forget about 5. I think it has to be number 2. If you really need the bear as part of the text, your
designer could try a version with the cap O as a very simple bear head maybe.

I hope that wasn't aimed at me....

First impressions of a logo are very important and if I can't see the name/letter it's supposed to be then I wouldn't have been the only one to see it that way. As it is some of these new designs make the J look a lot like a lower case cursive script f.

Now I know it's only hand drawn but based on what you're saying the designer, especially if it's for $55 all in, is literally just going to draw it out neater in illustrator (I assume they'll use this and not photoshop).

I still don't see a bear as organic food, even if you go for a brown bear.

@Levi sorry about that p.s, was a bit grumpy. And yeah, the designer would really only digitize it. Though she will be giving a couple suggestions.

I guess I'll go for #2, though I really like cursive.

Her first reaction so far has been, "that seems too simple!" so I'm guessing that goes to show the Kiss model is in effect. I'm paying for an industrial designer so I definetly don't expect much in the way of design counseling. Therefore I'm here asking for exactly that.
