What should I expect with graphic design

Hello everyone,
I would love to go back to school and I was thinking graphic design. I was wondering what are some good online schools for graphic design and what kind of jobs can I expect to get? What does it take to be a successful in graphic design?

I've never done an online course so I can't comment on that aspect. As for what it takes:
  • You need an eye for detail, colour, composition.
  • The ability to look critically at something to see what needs changing and why.
  • Great typography skills – pretty much every aspect of graphic design from logos and branding to websites and apps requires working with type.
  • Some drawing skills – you don't need to be trained in fine art, but be able to sketch out an idea that someone else can look at and understand.
  • A thirst for discovering and experiencing new things
  • Patience – particularly in an agency hours can be long and arduous, don't expect a 9–5 job
  • Confidence – I'm still working on this but you'll regularly find yourself in situations where you have to do something you've never done before and you need the guts to say yes to the client or whoever
  • The ability to listen
  • Good spelling and grammar – again, you're working with words, you need to understand their syntax
  • Software skills – as a junior you'll be expected to know how to use design software to realise your ideas and those of others
  • Professionalism and manners – design studios may look like they're all about bean bags, hammocks and funny facial hair but they're service providers to business and you'll be expected to conduct yourself in an appropriate manner
