Stop-Motion, best software?

I have been given a new project at my college, having to direct and make our own stop motion movie, no longer than 30 seconds.

My question is best software to import my photos and create the movie?

Ive already been snooping round final cut, but wondering if theres any better alternatives.

Final cut is the best software out there for video editing. But, it costs a fortune. There are plenty of softwares out there that you can find for free that cater for the task in hand.

If you use a mac then iMovie can probably do the job for you!
