Need help!

As you can see, I want it all!! I have started to do a website design course and I have been pointed to adobe photoshop cs4 to do my images and banners etc. However I can't afford to buy it so once I leave my class I am rendered useless till the next week Is there any free or similar software I can use that is as effective?!?!

As well as having the option to use GIMP, Adobe also let you download any of their CS5 applications (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc) for a free 30-day trial. All you need to do is sign-up for a free Adobe ID.
