    Help Please!

Hi I'm moved from Sydney to London 6 months ago! And around March I posted a ad on gumtree and got some freelance work from a guy! But now he is refusing to pay me saying because of design errors! But the guy approved artwork him self and he even do print proof, so I don't understand! He told me he loses 2 client and£2,500 he is not prepared to pay me! I think it's very unfair because he approved artwork. What should I do now the guy own me over £500. :icon_crying: Help please!

If you have documented evidence (e-mails, signed stuff etc) saying he approved the designs then maybe find a local debt recovery company to get involved.

Hi I have email from him saying please send me the final artwork! Is that good for evidence?

Not entirely sure as not my area of expertise. When we have to use our Debt Recovery provider they ask for as much documentation (electronic and paper) as we can provide and then they go off and work their magic. They are pretty good and recover up to 80% of debts for us. Of course they charge us a % of recovered money!

There are places for free advice in the UK. Try; Recover your debts | Business Link for starters.

I don't really mind to pay small fee! I just think it's unfair to me when he approved artwork now after months and half telling me there is error won't pay me!

Totally understand and it is horrible when it happens.

You could take him through the small claims court (cost about £40) or you could ask at the nearest Citizens Advice Bureau... they would help to fill out the forms etc.

    Thank you so much!

    Just wrote him a letter:
I'm sorry but this is not acceptable, you were reviewed the completed work and asked for the print proofs. If you have had further issues with the design then I would have expected you to contact me to get them fixed.

If you are having problems getting payment from your client this should be of no consequence to me, I expect to be paid for the work that has been submitted.

I expect you to resolve this matter with full payment in to my account within a week, if this doesn't happen then I will have no choice other than to take this matter to the small claims court.

Use these guys > The Thomas Higgins Partnership | Business Debt Collection Solicitors

They are very cheap (just a few pounds) for the initial threatening court action letters which usually do the trick.
