Hi can I ask questions in this bit about freelance rates? I know, I know, it's a question as old as time itself but I've just started out freelancing after being made redundant and have had little time to think about setting up a pricing package. What I do know is that I need to build a client base asap and if that means going in cheap to start with, then am prepared to do that. I know that at my last job we were charging around £50 an hour for standard design rates (page layout, artwork etc) but I am thinking of more around the £30 mark, does that sound reasonable for starters? Any guidance much appreciated
I earned around £28k at my last job but I'm realistic... thanks a lot everyone ps if this is the wrong forum for this please redirect me |

Try this link which discusses this problem - Graphic Design Blog » How Much Can you Charge for Freelance Graphic Design?
There is also a link to a calculator (American I think) for working out your rates which, from memory, is thorough. If you don't go that route I would start at £35 ph or give a 'fixed' price for items. |
