I wonder what comments they'll receive on the FaceBook page... I can imagine a few

Some people are just blinkin' chancers and want something for nothing. It was a cheek the way they were asking too... like us designers should be grateful to do the work.

They recon they have a long list of 'designers' wanting to do the work.

(in their words)
Many of them recognise it as an opportunity to add something special to their portfolio

Sounds to me like they've compiled a list of unemployable dreamers with a pirate copy of photoshop! Who knows, taking on a permanent commitment that doesn't pay and will absorb 20 hours a week could be fun!... oh wait,... whats that?.... a rusty bred knife you say!?!.... best get my dick out sharpish!

AMAZON!!

Will you PLEASE stop spamming us!

Just because I perused your headphones section does not then mean you can clutter up my e-mail every day offering items that do not not pertain to our business. I have no need to know that you now sell groceries or flowers can get deals on Doctor Who dvd's or the latest Lady Gaga cd, and I certainly have no need to know that I can pre-order WOW: Cataclysm (already have done so through Blizzard).

I know there are times when we are so busy and working onto the early hours of the dawn that a friendly word or pat on the back will be welcome.

But you are not it.

Network are a bunch of f*ckers who won’t make the effort to give personal replies to people who apply for jobs they are genuinely interested in and perfectly qualified for. Therefore they can f*ck right off and recruit as many Word artworkers as they like. I hope it makes them and the Word artworkers lots of money.

PS: Does anyone actually know a Word artworker?

Default Oh man I've found my thread

Dealing with a graphics design company hired to provide us with a logo for several printed documents.

Logo came through as a 600 x 400 jpg, conversation went as follows:

Me:
'Hi, could you please send me the logo in vector format?'

Them:
'What?'

Me:
'I'd like to have the logo in vector format please'

Them:
'Why?'

Me:
'because it's a much more versatile format, it's scalable and editable'

Them:
'We don't want you to change the artwork and we can provide you with a larger version of the logo'

Me:
'Not my point, I'm asking for a vector version, it's a standard logo format'

Them:
'I'm going to have to talk to my designer about this, I'll get back to you'

*Sent the exact image but 'live traced'*

Me:
' PLEASE SEND ME THIS DESIGN IN A DECENT FORMAT'

Them:
'I'm sorry sir we've followed our design brief, I think you need to follow this up with your company head of department'

At least they didn't just embed the jpg in an EPS or Ai file.

I always, ALWAYS provide a logo in various formats for this exact reason. This is the problem we've got now, that there are cowboys giving us a bad name. Businesses see their prices and think they are getting a good deal but this proves that you will NEVER get a good deal from these people.

They AREN'T graphic designers and if you want a logo PROFESSIONALLY done then you have to expect to pay more for it, otherwise this is the end result. It wouldn't surprise me if they didn't even know what a vector is. They probably designed it in photoshop.
