It amazes me sometimes that people calling themselves designers...with their website advertising design services just don't have a clue!
Customer sends us a really low res logo which is only suitable for website use, we request a vector version from their "designer", he supplies the low res version pasted into Illustrator and exported to .eps!!! Seriously

I used to get that on a regular basis. Fancy forming some sort of starchamber so we can start 'offing' these pillocks? |

I've actually made a gun, yes that's right, I'm a gunsmith. I mean I'm not really, but everyone is claiming they're something they're not these days, so I'll just pretend that I'm a gunsmith and that I work with cowboys (that bit is true).

My favourite stupid thing that happened recently is;
I went for an interview for a Graphic Design position (designing for print) at a law firm, I spent ages preparing my printed portfolio, cutting and mounting my printed work perfectly. I went for the interview, they loved my work, said my style was perfect for what they do. They gave the job to someone who did a digital presentation of their portfolio?!?!? And that was the reason I got given, that they had used initiative! It was a design for print position, how on earth is showing work on screen better in this situation? Is it just me or does anyone else find that odd? |

Perhaps the thing to gain from that is you should make a digital presentation of your work which you can leave with them including a great business card and insert for the CD cover showing some of your work. . .
or a film of yourself presenting the work! Did you really want to work with a bunch of solicitors? |

Do people not realise we need to make a f**king living too!?!
Ive just been sent this on facebook: Designer wanted... WoNKed Records are going to be a year old in November and we want to update our look and artwork. Please hit me up with designs etc and the team will look them over :) I thought hmm... could be fun as a side project, but I wont be designing anything till I know more about it. So Sent them a message asking what they want updating and the budget. to which I got this: Im looking for someone to do something on a regular basis for WoNKed .. all along the same lines u know so people know its all from same label .. but the label is digital so can not afford to be paying out every 2 - 3 weeks so we are after someone who is happy to do the designs in return for us making sure all of our fans etc know who did it Ive emailed back and told them I'll happily do it provided the entire record label performs in my living room for 7-8 hours every 2-3 weeks for free. How f**king rude!
