It is. Kind of. In that everyone's jumping on the bandwagon with little or no thought as to why. It's just another tool, along with radio, tv, press etc. Not saying it's not important, but it's not the be all and end all - sometimes a press ad or a piece of print, or beautifully shot TV campaign will be the right thing to do. Remember when the internet all kicked off and people said it was the end of print?
I'd question some of those figures too - where are they from? The idea that 80% of companies are using linkedin as their primary tool for finding new employees is just b*llocks.
